The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 places a general duty of care on all employers to ensure the health, safety and welfare of all their employees and this includes the employees mental health. The Equality Act 2010 also protects people from being discriminated against because of certain specific characteristics. Mental health is covered by disability under the act.
